Welcome to Forehill Nursery Class

This page will give you general information about our Nursery Class.

We run two sessions each day - 8.40am - 11.50am and then 12.30pm - 3.40pm and have 40 children attending each session.

The children in the nursery are provided with a huge range of learning experiences which support the outcomes within Early Level of Curriculum for Excellence. More information about our curriculum can be found elsewhere on the website.

All our staff are fully qualified and experienced in delivering high quality learning in a caring and nurturing setting. In the nursery, each child is assigned to a particular member of staff, who will take responsibility for the child’s progress, assessment and care, both in and out of the nursery.

The safety of the children in the nursery is of paramount importance.  It is expected that a responsible adult brings and collects your child from nursery each day.  It is important and indeed helpful to inform a member of staff if there is a change of person collecting your child.  This avoids difficult situations arising when staff do not allow a child to leave with an adult the staff do not know. Safety measures have been taken to increase the security of the school.  The nursery door will be supervised by a member of staff at the beginning and end of each session.  To gain access outwith these times, the buzzer entry system must be used.

We would ask that children are collected promptly at the end of each session.  To assist parents with this, we have flexible collection times available.

Morning Children:  The nursery door will be open from 8.40 am till 9.05 am.  Children arriving after this time, should enter by the main entrance of the school. Children should be collected at 11.50 am.  Please note, children who are not collected by this time should be collected via the school office.

Afternoon Children: The nursery door will be open from 12.30 pm – 12.40 p.m.  Children arriving after this time, should enter by the main entrance of the school.

On the sign in sheet, parents should indicate when they intend to collect their children – this can be at 3.05 pm or 3.40 pm.   This is to attempt to keep disruption to a minimum.

Much of the learning takes place through play, both indoors and outdoors - even in the rain! Our children have regular access to the outdoor nursery at Rozelle.

We will continue to collect a £2 contribution towards snacks, birthdays and other celebrations on a Monday.  We also ask that each child donates a box of tissues and a kitchen roll.

The children will be going outdoors in all weathers.  Please ensure they wear appropriate clothing.

We are always keen to involve parents and carers in the work of the nursery. Anyone who would be willing to help with activities within or out with the nursery setting should speak with a member of nursery staff - we would love to hear from you!  We are always seeking help for a wide variety of activities such as gardening, library, crafts etc!

WHO CAN APPLY FOR A NURSERY PLACE?
